There have really only been two main challenges i’ve been encountering while on externship. The first is actually setting clear goals and achieving them when i say I will. It’s difficult when I keep having setbacks. My art is pretty on schedule and I should be finishing my first piece soon but dance is a whole other story. I’ve been hurt, or too tired after all the work from the day, or now I’m sick. It’s been really difficult to try and keep up my dancing when I keep running into issues. I have however kept up a good schedule at Culture Shock. My dance team is having a performance on the 3rd. I’m really excited and my hard work did pay off for this because in one of the pieces in the finally I’m center. This is my first time being center so I’m really nervous but I’m also excited and I know I can do well.
The second is transportation. To get a ride in the morning i have to be up and ready when my dad leaves which can be really difficult to for me because I’ll often do a lot of my dance classes at night or stay up late working on art. When I can’t get a ride i have to trolley which takes a long time and if ,y schedule isn’t totally set for the day it can just be overwhelming. I’m going to try to combat this issue by making a schedule for myself and sticking to it. It’s been hard to remember totally everything so I think I’m going to whip out my planner to make my life a little bit easier.
One set back in dance that’s really be worrying me is my ability to get dancers. Most people I’ve asked are too busy because it’s the end of the school year or are adults and have jobs and other commitments they have ti attend to. So I’m worried I wont be able to find dancers. But at the same time I can just show my shoes myself and I’m still getting to teach before I’m teaching Matthew to dance so I’m still getting experience there.
So far I haven’t really had an opportunity to work closely with my mentors yet. I had two days planned (One with each of them) but both got cancelled which was really unfortunate. For art we rescheduled to the 31 so I’ll be getting to work with my mentor on a mural that day and I still have in class shadow days set for the first week of june but it hasn’t really worked out yet. So soon I’ll hopefully be able to get help and understand both these businesses a little better.
