San Diego Through the Lens
My artist statement and picture do not go together!
Artist Statement 1 Lucy Bollinger Triangle HPF, EPC, and BPT are all similar because of the Angle Angle Postulate (AA). Postulate AA says that two or more triangles will be similar if all triangles have at least two angles and each angle matches at least one other angle on the other triangles. We are told that lines HF, EC, and TB are parallel. The angles HPF, EPC, and BPT are all the same because they are all vertical angles. Angles F and C are alternating interior angles with the angle at T. We know they are alternating interior angles because the lines attached to those angles are parallel to the line on the other triangles. My picture expresses freeing yourself from your own mental prison. The lines in front of my face are meant to resemble bars on a prison cell. My face close up is suppose to represent feeling trapped in your own mind. Having myself spinning in the back of the picture shows freedom. The picture shows my whole body which says that even though I feel trapped, in reality I am free. I put myself spinning further back rather than closer up to represent the idea that being free is something still being worked towards. The spinning also looks ghost like because the idea of being free is like a hazy memory from a dream. Artist Statement 2 Lucy Bollinger Triangle HPF, EPC, and BPT are all similar because of the Angle Angle Postulate (AA). In my pinhole picture I tried to make my picture look as if I captured a ghost on film. I took two different pinhole pictures and in a photo editor layed them on top of each other. I stood further back because I wanted to make it look as if the photo wasn’t meant to be of the “ghost” but of the surroundings. I also had tried to take the photo in two exposures and have my face be up close in the photo but I only got a faint outline on one of the photos so you can’t see my face. I was spinning in the photo so it wouldn’t be a clear image and more of a ghost like image. I also wore a dress because I wanted it to to look flowy. |
Reflection
In this project I learned about the problems with aiming for the sun. If you dream to big and shoot for thing too high you will crash and burn. In this project I tried to do something that was way to hard and would take way too much time. When I realized this I scrambled to get another picture put together. Even though my photo was very last minute I rhik it still does a very good job representing me as a person. I think that the photo really does show a huge part of who I am. Even if I was given the opportunity to change what happened I wouldn't. I think it;'s good that I had this experience and I learned a lot about the pinhole camera I made.
In class we had to design and make a head lamp with a red LED light setting. In my design as I explain in the video is that I made a head lamp with a red LED setting and a white LED setting. I did this because I already knew how to make a circet with just one setting and it wouldn't have been a challenge to just of that. The two setting challenged me a lot. I also messed u a few times which made it even more challenging. For more information on the project and my head lamp please watch the extremely awkward video above.
October Sky
For the October Sky project we had to make a rocket out of either paper or a bottle. Everyone in my class did a bottle water rocket. During the project we build 3 different rockets. First paper, second bottle, and the third also a bottle rocket. The goal for the bottle rockets was to get them to reach 50 feet with an egg inside. The egg and the rocket were expected to come down safely.
Well the first time we failed was on our paper rocket. It flew but not well. I wanted to build another paper rocket for our second one because it was something I already new about but instead my group wanted to make a bottle rocket so we did. Our bottle rocket completely failed. It didn’t even fly and it leaked everywhere. We couldn’t launch that rocket that day which was a huge let down. after that for our third and final rocket my group and I knew many things we now couldn’t do. One being cut into the plastic bottle at all. Two being you have to have the length of one whole two liter bottle for it to fit on the launcher. Going in for our third rocket we thought about these things when designing our rockets. Luckily our rocket was able to launch but it didn’t reach the height it should have. So even though we succeeded in getting our rocket to launch we still failed at getting it to pass the height.
In this project I liked getting to do the budget. Even though it was pretty stressful I had a lot of fun budgeting everything and I liked it a lot. It’s weird that I wanted to do this because it isn’t a job I’d normally want to do. But from the second the teacher said was a job I wanted to do it.
Something I would change about this project is probably the amount of time we had to do it. It felt like a lot of work in a little bit of time. It really stressed me out and made me feel angry that whole week. If I had, had a bit more time I think it would have been a much more enjoyable process.
I think I budgeted really well for this project. Because of all the pre budgeting I did I knew we would have enough money for everything we needed. Even when our rocket got messed up and had to be remade we still were able to have extra money at the end because of my budgeting. .
Next time I need to look over things more. I need to redo my work multiply time to make sure they are actually good enough to turn in. I need to not be lazy and find time to rewrite my writing to make it as good as I can.
